Meet Ilnam Estate, Australia’s most easterly vineyard! The family business is situated in the mountains off the Gold Coast. For about 40 minutes we drive through rolling farmland with stunning views of the skyline of Surfers Paradise. We are lucky with the tasting as the vintner himself pours out.Mark is really easygoing and explains a lot about why he grows certain grapes, the soil of Ilnam and climate of Tweed.

I especially like the “L J” Fortified Shiraz 2005, which is quite similar to port: Red, sweet and thick! With 25°C however the bluish Clara Rose Sauvignon Blanc goes down very well…
